About us
TechnoPortal is a public ontology repository hosting portal dedicated to the wind energy sector and related technology sciences domain. Built on the OntoPortal technology and funded by the swissuniversities, our platform serves as a centralized hub for hosting, exploring and sharing semantic artefacts, including ontologies and conceptual data models. Our mission is to overcome the challenges in the data sharing in the wind energy sector by providing an open environment where the community can discover, contribute and share the domain ontologies.
As a part of the OntoPortal Alliance, the TechnoPortal platform provides a range of advanced tools, including browsing the content of semantic artefacts, versioning to track changes, an annotator to identify semantic concepts, and a recommender to propose relevant ontologies. These features enable researchers and wind energy experts to use ontologies for building their own knowledge graphs, APIs and other solutions.
TechnoPortal is currently a prototype with an active portal and a growing number of ontologies. This prototype is a key component of a wind energy research project, developed through collaboration between two Swiss universities: University of Applied Sciences Eastern Switzerland (OST) and the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (HES-SO Valais-Wallis). TechnoPortal is used by researchers to achieve the aims of the project through a three-step process: first, collecting and hosting existing semantic artefacts in the wind energy sector; second, developing new ontologies and conceptual data models for specific tasks; and third, applying and testing new developed ontologies on real data. We welcome everyone to join our community, collaborate and support our wind energy research.
